Sample Points to make in Emails/Letters
Please take these only as a guide – obviously, each person will wish to express their individual views.
Sample Points to Make to County Planner
- I am dismayed to learn of the proposed Hanna Boys Center development on Carriger Road.
- This development will have a highly negative impact on the local environment due to increased traffic, further depletion of water resources and destruction of local habitat.
- This bucolic country lane is used by Sonoma Valley residents for recreation, including walking, bicycling, jogging, horse riding and dog walking, as well as by residents of the Serenity elder-care home.
- The area Hanna is seeking to rezone is unique and pristine natural landscape where Sonoma Mountain meets Sonoma Valley. It is land zoned for Public Facilities and used for environmental education by Hanna itself, as well as, by other Sonoma Valley schools.
- The proposal should not go ahead. If there is to be any development, there is a much more direct, existing and much less environmentally destructive access to the proposed development via Arnold Drive through the existing Hanna property.
- Thank you.
Sample Points to Make to Father Crews
- I am dismayed to learn of the proposed Hanna Boys Center development on Carriger Road.
- Hanna Boys Center should not be sponsoring a commercial real estate development that will for years blight a beautiful and unique corner of Sonoma Valley.
- Carriger Road is a bucolic country lane used by Sonoma Valley residents for recreation, including walking, bicycling, jogging, horse riding and dog walking, as well as by residents of the Serenity elder-care home.
- The area you are seeking to rezone is unique and pristine natural landscape where Sonoma Mountain meets Sonoma Valley. It is land zoned for Public Facilities and I understand it is currently used for environmental education by Hanna itself, as well as by other Sonoma Valley schools.
- The proposal should not go ahead. If there is to be any development, there is a much more direct, existing and much less environmentally destructive access to the proposed development via Arnold Drive through the existing Hanna property.
- I fully support your mission. Your relationship with the local community has always been exemplary. There is a real danger this proposal is putting that relationship in jeopardy.
- Thank you.
Sample Points to make to Politicians
- I note that you are in favor of protecting the unique environment of Sonoma Valley.
- I am dismayed to learn of the Hanna Boys Center purchase of 17501 Carriger Road and their plan to develop 57+ acres at the north end of Carriger Road, including the rezoning of 27.5 acres from public use to private.
- It is hard to believe Hanna Boys Center would consider a commercial real estate development that will for years blight a beautiful, unique and historic corner of Sonoma Valley.
- This will have a highly negative impact on the local environment due to increased traffic, deprivation of recreation amenities, further depletion of water resources and destruction of local habitat. Nothing should be allowed to proceed without an Environmental Impact Report.
- This bucolic country lane is used by Sonoma Valley residents for recreation, including walking, bicycling, jogging, horse riding and dog walking, as well as by residents of the elder-care home.

i do not think the golf club has been contacted-they may be opposed simply based on the water issue.
Does anyone know when this project will go before the Sonoma Valley Citizens Advisory Commission? Also has anyone been contacted by any of the three representatives on this commission from El Verano West?
Excellent question- members of PreserveCarriger.org have been in contact with members of Sonoma Valley Citizens Advisory Commission- at this date the Hana Carriger Development has not been put on March’s agenda- the moment a date is certain communication will go out.
If they widen Carriger Road (which we are totally against) would they have to use emminent domaine? (Also which we are totally against) Does the Sonoma Golf Club have a stand on this issue?
